The Challenge: Create an on-premise marketing campaign that drives trial and awareness for Modelo Especial through a month long disruptive, experiential, and insta-worthy activation that supports Modelo’s “Fighting Spirit” brand campaign.
The Plan: DRH Media created its very own Luchador wrestler to hit the streets and surprise unexpecting bar patrons with an impromptu Luchador demonstration and photo-op. Our Modelo Luchador drew a crowd for the bar and encouraged guests to grab an ice cold Modelo Especial (or Negra if they preferred) and celebrate Modelo’s “Fighting Spirit” with him.
To drive social interaction and cultural topspin, we encouraged consumers to post their Luchador selfies for a chance to win tickets to a local music festival.
The Result: DRH media executed the month-long Luchador campaign simultaneously across three target markets and a total of 24 of Modelo’s most important on-premise influencer accounts. We executed over 100 promotions, interacting with 6,000 consumers and helped Modelo increase sales in target accounts by an average of 40% over the course of the campaign.

When Pepsi launched their new enhanced water, LIFEWTR, they chose artists to design a rotating series of labels on the bottles. One of the artists was an LA art student named Alex Lee. Looking for local amplification in a key market, Pepsi asked DRH media to develop a plan to help them leverage the artist in LA.
We created a campaign to drive awareness for LIFEWTR in LA, while also driving distribution and sales velocity at local 7-Eleven stores, where their main competitor dominated the enhanced water category.
We started by contacting the artist and publishing an interview in LA Weekly about his experience being chosen by LIFEWTR. During the interview, the artist described the excitement of walking into a 7-Eleven store near his house and seeing his art on bottles for the first time. In addition to print, we also posted the article on LA Weekly online channels, and created a digital ad campaign, designed to reach LIFEWTR’s target consumers based on both demographics and behavior. We targeted consumers based attributes like visiting 7-Eleven frequently, following artists, or visiting virtual or physical art spaces.
The program was a hit for LIFEWTR, earning the local marketing team a national award. The locally relevant campaign generated click-through rates at twice the national average and we garnered over 1.9 million impressions with over 4,600 consumers engaging by click. Additionally, the local sales team was able to leverage the media and awareness to increase LIFEWTR distribution at 7-Eleven by 15% in the LA DMA, and saw a 19% lift in velocity per point of distribution in the market.
To create a month long, off-premise, integrated digital marketing program that would help drive sales and awareness around the Anchor Brewery Variety 12pk.
DRH Media planned a multi-channel digital, social and sampling campaign to increase sales and drive shoppers back into Stater Bros. stores to purchase the Anchor Brewery Variety 12pk.
Our team created a 30-day mobile scratcher sweepstakes campaign. The mobile scratcher platform engaged the consumer with a gamification element that drove revenue and increased brand loyalty.
Unlike the outdated text-to-win platform, the mobile scratcher platform provides instant gratification to the consumer. In addition, the mobile scratcher typically increases engagement 3x more than the old text-to-win systems.
Using Device ID, we targeted and segmented shoppers to serve them the sweepstakes ads up to 9x throughout the duration of the promotion.
Through Facebook and Instagram ads, we targeted specific geographies to provide additional exposure and drive more engagement around the mobile scratcher.
Stater Bros. retailers hosted retail sampling events throughout the promotion to generate more engagement and to increase lift and velocity.
Stater Bros. sold out of the Anchor Brewery Variety 12pk within the first week of this promotion.
Stater Bros. reported a 47% increase in sales for the Anchor Brewery Variety 12pk during the course of the promotion. This custom campaign generated 2,854 entries for the VIP Anchor Brewery experience sweepstakes.
To drive lift and velocity of Sapporo beer at key chains including Times Market, Foodland and 7-Eleven in Hawaii.
DRH Media created a mobile scratcher sweepstakes to leverage brand assets and to drive consumer behavior. The mobile scratcher platform engaged the consumer with a gamification element that drove revenue and increased brand loyalty.
With the mobile scratcher platform, clients are seeing 3x more engagement than text-to-win platforms. Additionally, the mobile scratcher provides the consumer instant gratification, unlike text-to-win that could leave a consumer waiting weeks.
We also designed and provided the local sales team and distributors with custom POS collateral that increased engagement and interest into the sweepstakes.
Sapporo’s distribution increased by 93% in 7-Eleven stores during this 30-day promotion. 7-Eleven saw a 4100% increase year over year.
Sales for Sapporo increased by 38% at Foodland and by 48% at Times Supermarket.
